Hi Makus,

It's all just a matter of what your DVD player can play. In order to make a DVD that is combatible with standalone players, it has to be in the right format.

Most never players now also play VCD, but also those have to meet the standards of that specific format in order for the player to realize what kind of a converter it should apply to read the disc. If you only played your discs on your pc, you could burn almost any format on a CD or DVD and still be able to watch/listen to it on your pc.

About the burning speed.... Well basically the writing process should not change the quality at all, but in some cases, when using too high writing speed, the amount of writing errors on the disc exceeds the amount of correction the player can apply to the data. In these cases you get pixelation, stuttering, short blackouts or something the like. This is heavily media dependant so the writing speed should always be chosen according to the media you have. For really cheap bulk media I suggest you use slower writing speed than max, but with good media there's no problem. Nevertheless you might run into problems if you use higher writing speed than what the media manufacturer suggests.

Well I hope this helps. Cheers!
