Hi all, I have read somewhere that the Wii uses more power reading double-layered media than it does when reading single-layered media. Now as we all know, SSBB is the only double-layered game out there, and so my problem involves that. I've burned the game onto a double-layered Philips DVD+R at 2x speed (using layer-break) and the Disc Channel recognizes the game. However, at the point where the screen goes white before the intro scenematic, I get a disc-read error. Now are my lens defected somehow since it's trying to read a double-layered media or is there something else going on?

Try burning without the layer break. Sometimes that helps.

The game is also notoriously hard to burn correctly as well, sometimes you can do everything right and still get a bad disk.

Tried that too (but at 2.4x speed). My main concern is whether or not my Wii lens is defected in any way. Could it be the lens that prevents the reading of the disk or is it the burn? From your reply, I'd like to think that it's the burn, but I would like to confirm the suspicion of my Wii lens as well (for instance, I had another SSBB image which is trucha signed and couldn't start it in GeckoOS; it just froze).

So whether or not I'm burning SSBB correctly is a chance-based factor?
