Wii DVD drive stopped spinning.

Anyone have this problem or if they know if it is related to my Wiikey. My modded wii has been working fine for more than a year. Recently, it started making grinding noises so I found online how to make the noises stop (basically playing with the positioning of the drive). After gettin the noises to stop, a week later my Dvd no longer spins (it stops working righ in in the middle of an online MKW race!) The DVD still accepts disks and ejects but does not spin at all. I observed this by opening up the wii. It takes in discs and ejects them but does not even attempt to spin. I do hear clicking which I assume to be the laser head moving but the disks does not spin. This goes for GC, Wii and backups.

Would a faulty Wiikey install do something like this. I just want to be sure that if it is or is not related to the Wiikey because it was a PAIN to put on. I'm thinking when I was tinkering with the drive to get the grinding noise to stop, somehow one of the connections on the Wiikey became weak(er) and then as I was playing during the week maybe that weak link some how broke from a bump or something.

You can disable the Wiikey by de-soldering the groung or power leads. This should be simple enough to allow isolating ofd the problem.
