PSP 1000 wont read umds anymore

One day i was playing my psp i stuck my umd in and it wouldnt read the umd and i checked the umd it was fine and the little silver thing at the bottom was fine too. I checked the laser it was working same

Is the psp hacked. I was talking to a guy and he told me that first generation psp's may have problems playing umd's. Thats why i had to get a second generation and hack it to not allow for any problems what so ever.
