GTA4 is not the game of the year. It looks to me as thought the VGAs went by sales. Look at the nominees for GOTY.
1.)MGS4
2.)Fallout 3
3.)Gears of War 2
4.)GTA4
The top three were all better than GTA4. The only reason GTA4 sold so many copies is that it was an anticipated game that let many consumers down. Look at how many people returned GTA4 in the first 2 months.

Oh god don't remind me.... GTA as goty is the biggest load of crap, I'm not even going to get into it because i'm going to start throwing f bombs.

Did Dead Space win anything? I enjoyed that game much more then any games listed here, especially GOW2.

It's not very surprising that GTAIV got the Game of the Year, especially since Spike is such a... single-minded network. The game definitely isn't particularly deserving of the award, but honestly, the entire VGA thing is a major flake in terms of actually comparing the qualities of games.
...but that's me. I'm sure some folks here like it more than I do. Me, I watch Spike for the UFC, not for the VGA.
That said, I'm still infinitely glad that I never bought GTAIV... or any of the ones prior to it. While the earlier games might've been unique, the uniqueness lost all of its charm by GTAIV, and that game didn't do anything to advance the series at all. I still think the series is the most overrated game series in all of existence.
Bah. Now I'm ranting.

San andreas is the only one I could get into honestly. Its time has come and gone though as other games have surpassed what it offered.
All the vga's are is just a stupid popularity contest based on numbers, rather than the game's actual traits. And I liked how they brushed BEST GRAPHICS off to the side you'd think that would be a main category.
And imo ufc use to be a lot more entertaining before it went to spike and Dana White became its president.

As far as best shooter I would have to say that Gears of War 2 was the best pick. I dont own an xbox and never will but I do like Gears. I still play Gears 1 on my PC.

Ok, now you're get into my area. I'm an avid fight fan and am a regular caller on the Jordan Breen show on sherdog.com. lol.
Dana white and the Fertittas bought the UFC in 2001 after the organization was kicked off of pay-per-view b/c of political backlash on the organization. White is the main reason the UFC is as big as it is today and probably wouldnt even be a sanctioned sport if it werent for him. Without Dana there would be no UFC. I personally don't care for him but he has done some great things. End of rant on a topic that involves nothing technical. lol. :)

Oh I know its more of a sport now and alot more solid because of him, all I'm saying is I found it alot more entertaining watching sumo wrestlers fight black belts and whatnot. All the grappling these days makes it boring imo.

Dana White's hilarious. He doesn't act like a rich businessman should; he always looks like one of the guys.
...or at least that's what he's like on Ultimate Fighter.
