Hey guys,

very new to the Wii Moding.. I had my PS2 moded when i bought it and never had an issue.

However i am seeing all these different chip types and versions ect..

I bought my Wii this week brand new premodded no idea what kind of mod just that the guy said it was "Burned to the board" i assume he means sodered.

What are the chances that i would need to upgrade this in the future?

fairly likely, when a big title from the big N comes out its usually time to update. Example Galaxy, and SSBB

Yea the seller is not so forth coming with the information. Every time i drop into the mall to visit his store they are rammed with customers buying crap up. And when you call the store he wont disclose anything over the phone.. Mention Modified Wii or games and he will tell you " I run legit business nothing here like that" and hangs up.. lol

all i know is it comes with a 90 day warrenty.

Actually, only the earlier modchips needed updates. All the ones that came out since the D2CKey, and that includes the wasabi, infectus, D2Pro, D2CPro, Wiikey2, exc, have not needed an update to play any new games.

If the guy that modded it will not tell you what Modchip he put in then your only other option to know what it is 100% is to open the Wii and check yourself.

You can always take a picture of it and post it here if you need help identifying it.

Most modchips that are out in the market no matter what brand version they are can still play newer backups if you have the latest update on the Modchip (Updating the modchip is pretty much easy with most Modchips. All you need to do is place a DVD in the drive).

If your asking what the chances are that you would have to update the Modchip by taking it out completely and replace it with new 1 then the chances are slim.
