what brand of disks would you be referring to then ?? it is widely accepted on this forum that verbatims from Singapore are the absolute best media for xbox 360

to the OP there is a solution ... install the game to your HD and you will never have these dirty disk messages popping up during your game. if you don't have a 120GB HD then get one cause its the best new feature from the latest update

Obviously, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Don't listen to him.

To the OP,

It might have to just replace your laser with a new one.

???

No offence, but if you want to give advice, please know what you are talking about first.

@ lordbobb. If it's also doing the same thing with your original games, then it is the laser. If you've cleaned it then it's not dirty, it's worn out.

This is a common problem when people don't heed the warnings from others about only using quality media for backups. Cheap media kills lasers quick. I won't streach this post out getting in to why it does, as a simple search will result in more than enough posts which go in to further detail.

You can either replace the laser, which will take a little technical know-how, or you can spend just a little extra money and replace the whole drive.

£14-17 on fleabay .. 15 minute job if you are used to handling precision (hahaha.. theres a laugh with these 360 drives) electronics.

What people seem to overlook is a decent burner is also essential.. A modern decent burner at that.. some pre-installed oem hl-st-dt lump of crap can barely burn a video dvd let alone a 360 game.

360 burning synopsis.. pioneer112d or above, verbs (singapore) .. and a good 360 laser..

Ebay is the best bet for finding the laser or drive new. It's not too hard to just replace the laser. The laser slides on rails and the angle of the rails are adjustable. So it could be possible to have the rail alignment off when you reassemble it. If it were off, it would only require the person to open the drive back up and make small adjustments until the drive was able to read the disc again.

Also, if just purchasing a laser alone, they are usually shipped with a static point which would need to be desoldered by you.

For some people, it's usually easier to spend the extra $10~$15 dollars and just replace the whole drive and swap thier old drive board in to the new drive.
