comparing pq on shrunk dvds to dl dvds

hi all, can anyone tell me if there is any difference in pq (hdtv)when comparing shrunk dvds to dl dvds? I am unable to check myself and this question seems to have not been asked before. Much thanx.

If there is compression the end result does affect quality. How much it affects quality is based on how big the initial file is, and how much compression is necessary to make it fit.

A DL burn should require no compression thus no loss in quality.

As far as a visible difference, well there's quite a few variables to the question making it difficult to give you a clear cut answer.

Hi, if compression is necessary, then the hands down choice of compression programs is dvd rebuilder.

As a general rule

1) if compression is <15 % a transcoding program will suffice (as dvd shrink or nero recode or clonedvd) an no loss of quality is usually perceptable to the eye (this of course does not apply when the image is projected onto a large screen)

2) if compression is >15 %, use dvd rebuilder (an encoding program)
