I have a presario sr 5110nx with an athlon 64 2400 mhz(3800+) pcu and it came with vista home basic ,500 megs of ram DDR 2-5300. The machine is so slow as vista just about takes all the memory to run> I want to upgrade to 4 gig of memoery and according to the specs which states, the motherboard will take DDR2 pc6400 type of ram. Can anybody advise what is the differencec between 667 mhz and 800 mhz ram.Would it make a differrence in speed if I go with the 800 vs the 667 . Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thank

You won't really notice a difference in the real world, it's best to get the same speed as what's in there - doing so isn't compulsary, but it reduces the risk of incompatibility errors and there's nothing to be gained from buying faster memory as it will slow itself down to match the speed of what's already there.

As far as I can see, the SR 5110 NX does not allow the use of 2GB memory modules, you will have to use all four slots.
