I wanted to ask so apparently you can fake another driver's FW onto the liteon, however is there any possibility on Dec 24 of a FW flash like the other drivers that won't require some physical modification that would make it obvious you voided your warranty?
Man I swear I am going to make a FAQ on a lot of questions, so please bear with me ;)
Be nice.

maybe you didnt read what he said. he asked if he could mod it without voiding the warranty, he didnt ask was it possible to mod it period.
and to the op, no you cant, you will have to open the xbox 360 which will void the warranty. using the connectivity kit will make it easier, you wont have to solder so it wont be AS obvious but no matter what you will void the warranty opening it.

yes actually... yes i did.
in that thread they talk over and over about the process of modding the lite on. and then they talk about it again. and again. if somebody can't figure out, by reading that thread, that you have to crack open the box to do any of the modding then they should *insert anything witty here*

It seems idiots here never go away and continue to talk shitt regardless of more senior members telling them not to.
Back to the thread. Thanks for the response mike.
The reason I asked this was that the lite-on had a lot of hard ware modifications for the reason it was once thought to be a readonly drive, with the assumption you couldn't flash it. However on Christmas Eve there will be a firmware to flash it with, so I was wondering can we also assume there will be a method similar to the other drives for flashing?

i wasn't "talking shit" to anybody. i was just saying that the OP and you should read the thread i linked to. honestly. just try reading the entire thing and then see if you have questions about how to flash it.
stick around the boards for the next couple weeks and i'm sure there's going to be a ton of "lite-on mods coming on the 24th" or "how do i mod a lite-on" threads popping up all over the place. and all of these people are new to the boards and don't bother checking the 10+ page thread titled "LITE ON MODDING".
on a side note... are you the OP as well? you said "the reason i asked" before you asked anything.

the similar method u are looking for is infact the CK3/spearprobe tool. it isnt the same way of reading the fw but it accomplishes the samething just with different hardware involved. reading the thread he linked to would have revealed this. so he wasnt talking shit...he was just hoping u would read some shit
