I purchased and installed a WiiKey v1.0 a while back and it worked fine for some time. After buying SSBB I discovered the whole issue with being unable to run the retail copy and so I performed the work around to temporarily brick the WiiKey in order to load the game. I bricked and unbricked the WiiKey a few times successfully and then put my Wii away in a box for about 8 months. I just took it out today and from the state of things it would seem that I left the WiiKey bricked. I cannot figure out/remember for the life of me how to unbrick it though. Every burned disk I insert in the console cannot be read including my WiiKey 1.9b Recovery Disc.

Is there a certain process I need to follow to re-enable the WiiKey?

The recovery disk is NEVER able to be read. Thats how it works. You just leave the disk in with the console on on the main menu for 5 - 10 minutes and (hopefully) that will fix it. I should add though that bricking the chip is dangerous, and every time you do it theres a chance of not being able to recover.

I dont get why people kept bricking their modchips over this though. Even before the latest wiikey update it took less than a week from release to get a dual layer disk dumping program working and there were single layer rips floating around even before that. The wiikey only had problems with original disks of the game, single and dual layer backups worked fine with wiikey at 1.9g.

I left my Recovery Disk in the Wii for about 10 minutes but still no change... Any other suggestions?

Well as I said, when you brick a wiikey theres a chance it wont be able to recover it.

I would try burning a new recovery disk though. Maybe track down a newer version than 1.9b
