Can anyone help me on trying to fit movies, etc. that I have downloaded to fit on a single DVD-R? I have downloaded a few movies and when trying to burn them onto a blank DVD-R, the files are too large. Is there a program I can download and use to fit these files onto a DVD? Any input and help would be greatly appreciated.

milerLITE,
Are the files in .avi or Vob format. If they are in .avi then you will need to convert them to .vob format so they will properly play in a DVD Player. Below is a free program that will do that:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...ols/avi2dvd.cfm

After converion then you need to Shrink the files to fit on a DVD. Check out the info that 311814175 (posted 2 threads up). You can use DVDShrink (free software) and then burn the .iso image file it can create to DVD by using Imgburn(also free)

If those videos are AVI/WMV/mpegs, you can also use DVD Flick to convert to DVD. You can add multiple videos to one DVD(the more you add, the more you lower the quality though). Should not need to use DVD Shrink, as the DVD will be made to fit onto a DVD-5.

What is the total size of all the files in your VIDEO_TS folder? If the total size is not much larger than say 4.4gb, then you can use Dvd Shrink to shrink the file sizes down just enough to burn onto a single layer dvd. You can also use Dvd Shrink to eliminate all of the foreign languages to help save space. If the file sizes are a lot larger than 4.4gb and you don't want to shrink them, you can use VobBlanker to split the movie among 2 discs and have the first half on disc 1 of 2 and the second half on disc 2 of 2 with all working menus intact. I find this to be the best way to go in most cases after cutting out all unnecessary video footage like trailors, cast interviews etc. If you need help going this route, just let us know. Good luck.

car.mike......it's saying that my video's are video clips....I'm not sure exactly how to find out if they are .avi or .dvd etc. Can you help me with that? Either way, the files are too large to put on a dvd-r. I have downloaded the dvd shrink, avi2dvd, imgburn, and dvdFLICK....i'm just not sure which program to use now to compress it and put it on the dvd....

milerLITE,
I need to know what the file extension is. Example: VideoClip.avi
or is it VideoClip.vob

VideoClips are usually movies that people have put on the internet

milerLITE,
Use DVD Shrink as it is free and very easy to use.

After you converted the files from .avi to .vob how big are the .vob files as Avi2dvd will encode the movie to fit on a DVD-5
