i updated my firmware from m33 3.52 (might have been 3.80 i can't really remember) to 5.00-4 (i have a phat psp) the other night and now my apps (emulators and bookr) are not loading. ISO's and CSos are not a problem. I have tried loading in my "Game" folder and in game150 folder, but no go. Anyone have any ideas? everything was working great before upgrading.

5.00M33 operates on the 5.xx Kernel, this means that most of the homebrew ported for the 3.xx kernel will not work.

You need to find the latest updates of the Emu's you have, most stuff has been ported to 4.xx/5.xx now.

ok, so if they haven't been updated (i use bookr exensively and don't know if there's been any work on it for a while) then i need to revert back to the older firmware? I should have read more about the new firmware before updating.... knowing is half the battle after all!

The latest Emulators that use 3.XX and above kernel firmware should work perfectly fine on 5.00 M33-4.

If you are using 1.50 kernel based Emulators/Homebrew then you will need to install the 1.50 ADD-ON for 5.00 M33 to have 1.50 kernel compatibility.

When I updated my Son's PSP SLIM to 5.00 M33-4 his Emulators stopped working (they would boot but after a few seconds it would reboot to XMB and not load at all).

After a little trouble shooting I found out for some reason the ROM files that worked previously when compressed (zip) would not work any more. I had to uncompress them to the normal ROM and it finally started working again.

So if your ROM files are compressed then uncompress them and try it.
