So, not sure if this is the right section for this or not at this point, but this is the best place I see to put it. (it started off as trying to get my 360 connected to xbox live, but now all i need to do is get in teh config settigns of my router)
Long story short, I am home from school for xmas break. i want to connect my xbox 360 to xbox live but i hve no wireless adaptor and the router is on teh other side of the hosue. Luckly,my dad has his seperate business connection in the room right next to mine. The modem is some generic modem that time warner cable setup when we asked to have a seperate bussiness connection with a static ip. The modem it self has 4 ports for ethernet cords so technically its a rotuer itself, but the xbox 360 wont even connect to that at all.
That modem is hooked up to a router with the brand name of Check Point and the model is VPN-1 Edge W. When I connected my 360 up to this, i could get online, but playing games was pretty much impossible and it told me my nat was very strict.
I was told to do this by another member off another forum site...
"Straight through the modem won't give you an IP address because it's not active as a DHCP server.
You'll definitely need to get the Checkpoint configured to port forward tcp/udp 2074 and 3074 as well as tcp 88 back to whatever IP the XBox has on your network. "
but the problem here is, i have no idea how to get into the config settings of that router. i have tried anything. anybody got any ideas? thanks!

thanks, but this is a home network problem, and has nothign to do with peer 2 peer networking software, but if you think this is better than the pc thread then that works.

Not sure but give this a try. Go to start>run, type in cmd and select enter. In the next box, type in ipconfig/all and select enter. Make a note of the Default Gateway, exit and type that ip address in IE and select enter. If this get's you to the access point, the password and username may be admin, blank - admin, admin - admin, password - admin, your ISP password. You could alway's contact the ISP or Check Point Security too.

but im pretty much screwed, because my dad had someone from work set it up and so there was a password set to get into those settings, but he dosen't know what it is.
edit: will that program work to get those settings fixed for my network, even though it is password protected?

well he is radiologist, and it is a guy from a company who did it. the company basically runs the whole network from diffrent hospitals to the check points at home that the images get transfered back and forth.

Well, again, no ida but if you can't get the password, what about disconnecting the router temporarily and setting a static ip address and changing thing's back later but it may not be wise to change thing's at all. And you aren't on break long, are you?: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
