Wiikey V1 not working

I have the original wiikey (v1) with the 1.9s firmware and the ver. 3.2u for the wii. I just bought COD WOw today and when I tried to make an update it wouldn't read it. I haven't picked up any games for a while (about 6 months). I noticed after looking around there there is a new Wiikey v2 out. Would the v2 fix this problem I'm having for COD or is the problem completely related. Basically, is there anyone here who can play recently released games such as COD with the original wiikey (v1) or does my problem seem to me more in depth. Also I'm givin the option to update to a new version that has a code 61212. has this been verified to be save with wiikey v1 and could it also potentially fix my problem because im reluctant to update because i dont want to brick my wii. Thanks.

The wiikey 2 has nothing to do with this. I wish people would look around a bit before posting about specific games working on modchips.

If all you do is play backup games, the game is from your wii's region, and don't do homebrew then you can update safely. I must tell this to at least 5 people a week, but NO FIRMWARE UPDATES HAVE EVER EFFECTED A MODCHIP. This may change sometime in the future, but for the time being it still stands.

I just updated my wii to ver 3.4U and Call of duty is still not working. When I put the game in it says unable to read disc. I have previous games that have worked before and still work so it cant be the modchip.
