Hi all, new here.
Just had a few questions about backing up a couple of my games. I'll first explain my setup...
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop (running Vista), with a DL burner (Toshiba DVDW/HD SD-L802B is the drive model). I bought a spindle of Memorex (I know, I should have bought Verbatim) DVD+R DLs. I obtained isos of two games I just bought, Prince of Persia, and COD5. I also obtained CloneCD and ImgBurn, the latest versions of both.
Use of CloneCD:
I installed CloneCD, and tried to burn the image of POP, after setting the layer break to its requisite value of 1913760. Nothing happened, literally. CloneCD stayed on "Writing lead-in track..." for about 15 minutes. Disc completion % was 0, as were the two buffer percentages. Attempted with a Phillips disc, same problem.
Use of Imgburn:
I tried to burn the POP .iso, after setting the layer break manually to 1913760 in an options menu. I set the recording speed to 2x, checked that the Memorex disc was ok to burn on, and hit "go". I got an error which read "Power calibration area error!". I have an idea of what this is, but I'm not entirely sure. After some research, it became apparent that I needed to try updating my drive drivers, updating my bios, and/or looking into the possibility that my drive isn't receiving enough power. I updated both sets of drivers, and still got the same problem. Tried a Phillips DVD+R DL, same deal.
I then transferred the .iso to a Macbook Pro, which I believe has a superior drive. I used a Mac app, iBurn360, and burned the Prince of Persia .iso, and lo and behold, it worked just fine when I played it in my 360! I used a Phillips disc, as I had tried the Memorex ones on the Mac as well, to no avail.
I then attempted to burn the COD5 image, using the same methodology. iBurn360 advised me that I needed to patch the .iso, or it wouldn't work correctly. I allowed it to automatically apply a patch of some sort to my .iso file, and let it continue with the burn. It finished, and when I hit "play" on the disc while it was still in the Macbook, it said "Insert this disc into an Xbox360 console", or words to that effect, at least. So I thought, "Good! That's a good sign." I tried the disc in my 360, it read the disc, then came up with a message "Open Tray" on my Xbox dashboard. My Prince of Persia disc still worked fine after that.
My questions are as follows....
1) What exactly is a power calibration area error?
2) Could my DVD-DL burner be inept at burning DVD+R DLs? What could the problem be? The media? I wonder why the burning wouldn't work on CloneCD/Imgburn on my Vista-running laptop, but worked right away on the Macbook Pro - is that a DVD drive thing?
3) Could the patching of my COD5 iso by iBurn360 somehow have left the resulting burned DVD defective? Should I retry, not allowing the program to patch my file?

LOL you are going to hate me for this, but you should've listened. as soo as I saw that power calibration error I knew what it was and I just laughed through the rest of the post, knowing you wasted your money on memorex's even though you knew you were supposed to buy verbatiums. oh well, you live and you lern, but next time listen, modders and hackers dont say things for no reason at all.. lol :)

Haha yeah...I know, Verbatims. When it finally stops snowing I'll go pick a couple up.
But that still doesn't explain it all. Prince of Persia worked with a different burner and Phillips discs...my questions still stand!! :)
