When I turn my psp on it right off the bat is pressing down the select button. I can't play anything. It messes everything up. How can I fix this?

Hi,
I have a ps 1 and it has a similar problem.The 3rd button from the right(stop button,square) is stuck on stop,cannot play cd or anything.
Any advise on thsi?
