Hi there, I'm supahman. Lately, I've been going over custom firmware and what it is. I do understand what it is and how to use it, and when I first started out with custom firmware I was able to get 3.03 OE-A (on the first psp's that came out= fat, black ones). At first, I was satisfied with this firmware because I was able to get many games for free, but then, many of the new games I downloaded wouldn't work and I got many error messages. So, I began reading some more about custom firmware, and I realized that I would need the newer versions of them to play these new games. The thing is though, I don't know how to properly get these custom firmwares onto my psp. My main questions is, is how would I be able to update my psp from custom firmware 3.03 OE-A, to a newer firmware that is compatible with the old gen. of PSP's? And, is this safe to do? I'm mainly concerned about the last question there, because I am unsure what will happen to my psp after I update it to a different firmware. Will it cause my psp to glitch? Will it damage my psp? Questions like that. Thank you for reading this, and later taking time to reply to this topic. Help is greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you for the reply. I've actually tried that, but what I really need to know is will this work on the fat psp's?

Sorry for a double post or anything like that. I've been looking at some stuff lately, and I've read that if I use that recovery file, I may mess up my battery. Is this true or not?

okay, thanks. :) Now from what I have gathered, this will work on a fat psp (original first generation ones). Looking at some tutorials here I was able to get custom firmware 3.52 m33. So, I take it this file is better than 3.52 m33, and with this i should be able to play mostly all the new games, right? Sorry for asking too much. It just get's confusing sometimes. :S

Okay, thank you. All my questions are now finally answered. One problem though... Is there a link to another recover file? That previous one doesn't work....

Could I use Hellcat's file to upgrade my 3.52M33 psp directly to 5.00M33-4?
I could not upgrade to 5.00M33-4 using the file from dark-alex's site. It requires 3.52m33-4 and I can't patch my psp with just 4 as I keep getting a corrupted data icon.
