I burned a copy of Prince of Persia with a Verbatim 8x DVD+DL disk; the application I used was CloneCD, and the speed was 2.4x

The game booted correctly, the problem is that the sound skips a lot, I also get the 'dirty disk' error quite often.

I have read on the forums that this seems to be a problem with bad quality disks, but I used a Verbatim.

Any help?

Where were your Verbatim discs made from? India? Singapore? Made in India discs are inferior quality to the ones made in Singapore.

Well one is DVD+R DL while the other is DVD-R. But I have heard/seen that the Indian-made discs are with the orange packaging.

@johncchc-

The first picture he showed are Made in Singapores unless you got the same packaging and they were Made in India which I will take back my statement. Also burning a 2.4X disc at 4X speed is idiotic.

I could not find any origin info on the box or the disks; but my 'box' looks just like the first picture (purple), only that the ones that I've got are 8x (it also says up to 10x on one corner), I burned at 2.4x.

did you get any coaster burning it at 2.4x? if everyone here is burning at 2.4x, from now on i will start burning at 2.4x too.

install the game to the HD ... first thing after you burn it ... that way the disk really only needs to work 100% one time ... after that its just the security sector check which is a minor thing

Well yeah, the backup that I did (the meaning of the thread) is a coaster, and did burn at 2.4x with a Verbatim 8x, so I'm trying to figure out the problem so it won't happen in the future.

PD: I suppose that a slower burn is more capable of working than a fast one.

Well I could do that, it is a good idea thanks, I'll do it; but how do I prevent this to happen the next time I make a backup?

supermati, u already burned it at the slowest speed it's 2.4x you cant go slower than that. if u burned it at 2.4 and yet u still get coaster, than idk because 2.4 is the slowest. trust me you dont want any speed slower than that.

Ya, i noticed that one was DL and the other wasn't. I was just trying to get two fairly similar pics with the different packaging, i don't think the packaging changes if it's a DL or not.

I took a closer look at the back of the disk:

It doesn't look like it has perfect circles burned around it; it almost looks like the circles are made of wooden texture.

Of course it is not as drastic, but on some places it does look like the center of that tree on the picture.

I hope I'm clear.

Any help would be appreciated.

iv just experienced the same problem, using verbatim discs, iv got the weird 'wood grain' texture on the discs. the only thing i can think of is that i accidentally got dvd-r (the ones in the orange case that dont have a white top) instead of dvd+r (white top, purple case), and apparently the two dvds use slighty different surfaces. my burner is a dvd+r. most pages i found didnt say that this should affect the burn, but its the only thing i can see that might make it wrong. luckily i only bought 3... did u end up fixing ur problem? im just gonna buy the dvd+r's from now on, hopefully they work for me
