Thinking of getting elite 360 as my 2 year old 360 has already rrod twice even after x-clamp fix & now E74, so I want to change unit to more reliable unti to avoid heating issues old units were/are experiencing. Is Elite a much better way to go or thye have same issue, based on what I am reading I should be lloking for Falcon/jasper chipset, does Elite have this or do I need to look for particular untit to assure this si what I am getting.

The new elites are having hardly any trouble. I've had mine for just over 2 years now and absolutely no problems. Supposedly it has better cooling and the new ones are supposed to have the falcon chipset, so RROD doesn't happen often with these.

Is jasper and Falcon 2 different types of chipset? When purchasing at a retailer how do I assure this is what I am getting?

I heard jasper is newer than falcon. You'd have to ask the person that's selling it to you, I don't THINK there's any way of telling just by looking at the box.
