okay guys here is a topic that you guys have dealt with alot. Now I have had my pandora's battery combo for a while now used it on plenty of PSPs but now I am not sure what is going on. My friend has a white model 2001 psp and it is bricked from another person trying to hack it. I am not sure what was used to try but that is what was said. The screen lights up but nothing. The only light (besides the power light) is the orange one. So I just try to go about things blindly but not too sure if what is supposed to be happening is. On the memory card there was a dump file (ofcourse I saved it). But I don't know what to do I read all the pandora's ttrls and nothing will pop up on the screen to let me know anything. The info behind the battery is AK8XXX2001 409B-PSP and HU71XXXXX. It doesn't have the 88V3 mobo I checked that (thanks Dark Alex) so as it is I am stuck. And what is full vs semi bricks?

A full brick means nothing will come up (including recovery menu). A semi-brick means you can't boot to XMB properly but the recovery menu still can be accessed by pressing R shoulder during boot up.

What version Magic Memory Stick are you using? If it is 1 that downgrades to 1.50 then you need to update the Magic memory Stick. You need a version that installs 3.71 M33-2 this also has video driver support for the PSP slims.

Go HERE and follow the Magic Memory Stick part of the guide and try it on the PSP SLIM.

You said you already have a Pandora Battery so skip that part of the guide. Make sure the Pandora Battery is in properly. You should get the power green LED when inserting the Pandora Battery. If your Pandora Battery is dead (no charge) you might need to place the Pandora Battery in first then plug in your AC Adapter and power on the PSP to bring up the Magic Memory Stick menu.

Also I would not use that dump on the Memory Stick unless you know 100% it is for his PSP. You should try getting Custom Firmware to it then after you get it up and running do a Nand dump again so you know you have the correct dump file for that PSP.

oh yeh and btw how do I use the nand dump anyway? I have read the instructions on the Nandtool but I don't know where to put the files because it gives you 3 or 4 of them and it only talks about placing 2 in folders if I remember correctly.
