I hate to ask this, because I'm sure its existing in the forums somewhere, but I skimmed through the text book, did a search and skimed through the guides in the ultimate sticky.
I was wondering what I need to know when I buy a 360, which ones are capable of performing the firmware mod so that I can play backups? Do new off the shelf 360 consoles work? Or are the newer models altered so we cannot flash the firmware on the DVD drive? Do I need a harddrive? Is the Arcade version fine? Can I even take advantage of those features since I won't be able to use X-box live and download content to my 360?
yep, any one off the shelves right now can be flashed, you don't have to have a harddrive but i would recommend buying one if you play a lot of games, an arcade is fine and no it doesn't matter if you have xbox live. before you flash it, read up on how to open it, and what kind of hardware your gonna need to flash it, its almost a guarantee that it will be a lite-on drive so read the tutorial a couple times and follow along with it while flashing the drive, hope this helps. good luck
