Having problems with ICO

I've tried backing up ICO a couple of times, and I can't get it to work. First i burned it to a CD-R. Once on 10x speed and another on 2x. Then I tried converting it from CD to DVD with the patcher program found on this site. That didn't work. Finally I tried backing it up to a DVD without patching it, and that didn't work either. Has anybody else had problems with this game? BTW, this is the first CD game I've tried backing up/playing.
