problem:

Several.

First if you are trying to use rock band drums from a u.s.a console the drums wont function on a u.k or japanese version game.

Same for the guitar.

Also if you use a backup of rock band the games security is designed to not allow instruments.

Ton's of Wii users ran into this when trying to run the u.s version on a japanese and u.k wi console.

I am having the same problem. I connect my Nyko Frontman guitar with no issue. The drums just wont connect, just the blue ring.

I bought my drums used off ebay. I did not get the hub so I am plugging them directly into the usb port in the back, but I can't see why that wouldn't work.

There is a work around for the drums not connecting while playing a backup of RB2...

you can find it here
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=120912

You need to install cIOS installer and get IOS 037. This is where the USB drivers for the drums are located. I did this and I have been enjoying my drums ever since.

Hi, thanks for that but I think I'm missing something. I tried what you suggested but no luck. Any way you go explain how you did it, I just cant get the drums to work and its killing me that I spend $90 on them and they are collecting dust. Thanks

That link seems to talk about making RB Custom discs.
Can you just load IOS 037?
Where can you get it from and how do you install it, if all you want to do is enable the RB2 drums?

Thanks!

all you really need to do is get ios 037 running. Go to part 2 of the tutorial (Rock Band Soft Chip) and you will find what you need.

Get cIOS installer and look in the readme for a bunch of web sites to copy and paste into your browser for the required files for 037. You will need to make the proper directory on your SD card as described in the tutorial. Dont worry about wad installers or anything like that. Once you have 037 running you can load RB2 out of your regular backup loader and your drums should work.

I also found 037 allows other games that normally don't load as backups to work.

Sometime you will not be able to load certain wads under 037. I couldn't install the internet channel for instance so i had to downgrade to 036, but i then reupped to 037.

If you can run the twilight hack this shouldn't be too daunting.

Wouldn't a .wad install be easier?
I found IOS37-64-v2070.wad as a torrent.
If I already have the wiigator wad manager, wouldn't it be smarter to go this route?

Thanks!

OK - so I was able to get CIOS 037 installed. I think. I went through the CIOS install process. Found the ?Currently selected to install custom IOS37 with IOS37 rev7 dip as IOS 232? choice and it installed, pulling 15 files over the internet.

But, when I hit "menu" in the HBC, it still says IOS36 in the top right.

Plus, the drums still don't work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

dont use the internet fles?

Open the readme. You will see a bunch of http links that will get you the proper 037. Just copy and paste each into the address bar of your browser and save each file. There should be 17 in all

On the root of your SD Card, create a folder called 00000001. Inside that, create a folder called 00000025. Inside that, create a folder called v2070. Inside that, put all 17 files of IOS37 in it.

This is the structure in the end (X:\ being your SD Card) X:00000010000025\v2070

I think the one that you downloaded doesn't contain the usb drivers you need.

And, do you ever get confirmation that you are running 037 when you hit the home/menu button while in the homebrew channel?

I also have a folder:

/00000001/00000024/v1042

Should I delete that? Do you have that one?

I dont know. I just load the game through backup loader and thats it. I couldnt get the rockband channel to load so i use the loader without problems.

Anything further I cant help much. Google around for other wii hacking boards, the answers are out there, thats how I found this. I had a few other sites but this was the only one i bookmarked. I do have this in my history though...

http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew/8546-ro...es-softmod.html

Thats it, I am tapped out as far as info to help you. Good luck with your drums...I got mine working, you can get yours going. Keep on googling and you will find someone out there with more.

I think I know what is going on.
After I got wiigator running, I updated my Wii firmware to 3.4 to get the Wiishop working. I bet 3.4 is blocking me from updating the IOS to 37...

You think?

What version Wii firmware are you on?

Could be. I am staying put at 3.3U so I cant tell you if it is your firmware. I will say I havent seen anyone mention anything about 3.4 vs. 3.3 in my searches for a solution for my own drums.

My only advice is keep searching. This is apparently a common probem tha only seems to bite you in the ass after you bought a set of drums. There's got to be someone with a common problem as yours.

3.4U has blocked the ability to run .wad's on the updated IOS system menu. "downgrading" will allow you the ability to run custom .wad's on your system. I'll lightly brush the topic but you will need to do most of the research on your own.

After updating to 3.3U or 3.4U you will need to do the following:

Run Wad Manager 1.3 to install IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad
This "Wad Manager 1.3" WILL allow this particular IOS16 wad to install
Run CustomWM to install CIOS_FIX.wad
Now you are finished with downgrading to install WAD's.

I hope this will help you. I don't own a backup of the game but I had one heck of a time trying to hack my wii because of a corrupt IOS249.
If all else fails or you repeatedly get "error -1035" or "-1025" then use both the cIOS Uninstaller 1.0 AND cIOS Uninstaller 1.1 both located either on a torrent site or waninkoko's home page located at http://wii.waninkoko.info/ (you will need to register in the forums to make download available.)

I just realized that this is for a physically modded wii. I am not sure if all this will work with your wii chip BUT if you end up using Homebrew to launch/install the Backup Channel then this should work for you.
