Here's a classic case of OPB.OPB is what I call "Other People's Backups". There's a lot of threads out there with members having issues and it's due to they are trying to rip Other People's Backups or backups that they made on a different dvd-rw drive. They are ripping something that they had no control of.

Just because 1 person swears by dash format and a certain brand of disc, doesn't mean someone else has to use that setup.Every burner is different.I've seen how these burners can vary after using over a dozen in my tenure.

Anyone with a queezy stomach,do not look. I warned you. Here's a pic of a scan I just took from someone else's backups using a decent LG drive, and -16x philips cmags:

This person burns these dash format cmags at 16x and has no issues with them.He buys the cheapest discs that He can find: HP,Staple's,and now highly favors Philips, LOL! Out of 6 of the backups he gave me only 1 would re-rip. They played ok,except the last 5 mins on that one in the pic.
5 decent playing backups that cannot be re-ripped due to severe crc and PO errors.
I've been trying to tell this guy about media quality and burn speed for the last 2 yrs and he's finally taken notice. The last backup he gave me was ok,but also on a Philips -16x but made by Ritek. He switched spindles and the problem popped up, LOL!That's another classic sign of what named brand media will do to you. He then ran some other backups through dvdidentifer. His -16x HP were the same cmags.

I've never, ever seen 1 single PO error on the hundreds of scans of my own backups even using crap media like playo. The only PO errors I run into,is from his backups that I get once in a great while. Here's a pic of a crappy +16x Playo, burned at 4x in a quality burner:

Bigtoxy69 loves those playo's, LOL!

Crap media like cmags,MBI,AML,UME,etc- Keep the burn rate low 4x.Keep the backup target at 4300 mbs. No multi-tasking. Don't put anything important on them because they may be rendered useless in a few months.

Step up to some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, then bump that speed up. Verbatim and Ty were meant to be burned fast, the others aren't as fortunant.

Stick with quality media,8x burn speed and don't let your scans look like that top pic, LOL!

That is truly awful, gald i haven't had breakfast yet.
I'll help out by adding my worst example from a thread from 2005, you might remember the following screenshot, and not an actual error in sight! ->

So-called Taiyo Yuden media by Bulkpaq - these are NOT Taiyo Yuden and are fake TYG02. The disc is 8x, burnt at 4x -

Pretty ugly creakster!!! I'd have a coronary if it was one of my backups, LOL!!!

Anywho, I went over to this person's house earlier. I just happened to mod out my ex wife's WII this morning, but no backups yet."1st time ever modding a game console" !!!!! This guy had a half dozen games backed up and waiting on his mod chip to arrive. He didn't know if his backups would work.

His Wii backups that were on -16x verbatim played perfect. 2 of the games on Staple's -16x and 1 on his favorite Philips -16x could not be recognized in my wii. It took 3+ yrs to show this guy the difference between quality media and crap media. BTW: Both the philips and Staple's brand coded as CMCMag-AM3, LOL!!

I set him on the right path and he has Verbatim ordered from japan, for not much more than he was paying for his crappy brands.I'm dying to know if they are the Ty verbs or the regular verbs.

1st: Edit title cause my tarded a** mispelled Stomach, LOL!

Anywho, just getting into backing up Wii games and saw most peeps recommending dash format media. So I go to the next city over and took my dad. I forgot to check on the media on sale thread beforehand, UGGH!

Anywho, I picked up 4 single packs of Verbatim -1x-2x that were in full size vinyl cases. Those have to be ancient! Paid 69 cents each at Ollie's Outlet stores. I couldn't resist checking them out and a free case to boot!I also picked up a 25 pk of Maxell -16x,made in taiwan at wallyworld. Finally after getting home, I ran dvdidentier and both the verbatim and maxells registered as Cmags, UGGH!!

This is the 1st batch of media that I bought since the 600 Office Depot's last summer sale of $15 per 100 pk tub.

Happy New Year to all!
