Hi Guys
Just noticed you had released a second FW upgrade for the SV Box PVR Twin and tried installing it.
It seemed to go on OK and had to rescan the channels as all the names got messed up but when I tried to reprogram the favorite lists, the box crashed when I tried to edit the name of Fav 2.
I was hoping this version would fix the EPG laziness in the release of 8th December but have now had to go back to this version because I can't set up my channel listings.
Is this being seen by anyone else, or is it just me (again!)
Cheers!

I am also very happy with it
Why dont you edit the favourites with the channel editor on the pc and load it, would be much quicker as well

Hi
Go to the eko.4shared link below you will find it in the Starview 1 folder 'SVCE_1044.zip' but IMO its crap, and the easier way is to do it with the menu system & remote.

i downloaded the channel editor but when i tried to load the .dat from the updated channel list it says 'not a valid starview file'. is this because the favourite system has changed and i need an updated channel editor or is it just because it is not that good.
Happy new year.......

Sorry jbvideo, have only just returned to the site.
Re your question:
Yes, it is a Starview 2 twin tuner box.
-and still working well, although I've still not been able to update via the null modem (or usb) cables. Had to take out hard drive copy and paste software onto it, refit to box and then update from hard drive.
Happy New Year to all.

the channel file has to be a bin file, your current file is .dat, try uploading from pvr with loader.

I have updated with the x-mas eve firmware and everything seems fine except the problems with the favourites. Fav 1 is ok but the others have different probs.... Fav 2 crashes the box when I try to rename, Fav 3 will only allow a name of 2 letters or less?????
Anyone got any ideas?? Ive tried uploading the .bin file from the PVR but that just produces an error at 52%ish. I know its not the end of the world but its annoying none the less.
Cheers

does that mean that the backup channel list to hdd option is a waste of time as that backs up a .dat also i have older .dat files that seem to work the main problem is that because the channel list itself seems to have changed (such as not being able to put a channel on more than 1 fav list it doesnt seem to accept the new channel list.

no they are not a waste of time, very handy to have if you have various firmware on the drive and your switching back and forth, i used this method when comparing the 2 firmwares. For me though having 4 favourites only and names as I want them meams i like the xmas eve release more, its more stable as well

I'm trying to open both .dat and .bin files using the starview channel editor mentioned above but neither open. it says not a valid staview file for both.
Does anyone have a copy of the NTL Dublin channel dump file for me?
since the channel listing is the only major issue I have with this device. I tried to edit it within the EPG but it keeps freezing when I try to rename the FAV groups and I have to turn the device off and on.

The first updated firmware 08/12/08 was just a patch on the beta firmware from Jan 2008, a lot of people were not very happy with this firmware because of the niggles (well it was a beta) so they released a patch for the v4506 firmware from Oct. 2007, which is the 21/12/08. Both firmwares produce .dat files when saved onto hard drive and produce .bin when using rs232 cable. the firmware from 08/12/08 which is the beta is not compatible with the channel editor or any other firmwares, but the 21/12/08 firmware is mostly compatible with all other starview firmwares, except all others use only .bin files.
Hope this clears up all the confusion.
