I'm having issues flashing the firmware of my Hitachi-LG 59DJ. I've been using the "Textbook" as my guide and everything went seemingly fine.

I had no issues getting into ModeB (used SLAX)
The drive came up fine in WinXP
Flashed using iXtreme1.4_Hitachi_C4EVA_rev1, which indicates that everything flashed fine.

When I put in a backup game, the 360 says "Open Tray"

I made the backup myself using a KREON flashed SH-D163B and Xbox Backup Creator v2.3, build 0185

The Xbox plays originals just fine

I restored the original firmware, put the backup copy in, and I get the same "Open Tray" (latest dashboard) so I'm thinking I might be having an issue with flashing the firmware, and not so much the backups I'm using.

Unfortunately I do not have access to another flashed Xbox so I cannot try my discs elsewhere (not that would definitively solve anything, different Xbox, different Drives, etc.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been a lurker on thee boards for quite some time now, you guys have already helped immensely. Thank you all!

Thanks, I suppose I'll have to give it a shot. I wanted to stick wiht the iXtreme for it's better XBox Live "stealthiness". I would consider the new 1.5 firmware, but I didn't think it was compatible with the Hitachi drives. I thought it was just for the Lite On and BenQ drives... am I wrong about that?

Hey Evo, thanks for all the help. Unfortunately I'm getting the same "Open Tray" nonsense as before. I'll sit tight and wait for the latest iXtreme Firmware.

Thanks!

You should google open tray error. There's a fix for this that involves adding a 1mm tab to the sensor bar inside the dvd drive. I've fixed one of two drives that had the open tray issue doing this.
good luck

XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD
Xbox 360 Red Elite 120GB HDD = no-stealth 1.6 & XBReboot V3 & 1TB usb hdd
PS2 Slim = freemcboot v1.8 - PSP Black Slim = 5.00m33-6
Wii = w/ Blue XCM ii-case, Wiikey2 & softmodded

Hey Copper, thanks for the tip. I've tried that hack on several different firmwares, and I have yet to get a backup to boot :(

Adjust the POT settings on the DVD drive laser. Just look for the .pdf guide. I had the open tray problem with my 59DJ and that cleared it right up.

Thanks so much, that did it! I have it running @3.2 right now, and everything's running as it should. Thank again for all of your help, it is genuinely appreciated.
