Using DVD2SVCD to make my SVCD's from AVI's. It's worked fine when using DVD as the source, but when I start using AVI's, I get problems. The first 2 disc SVCD set I did was fine with audio synced all the way through the first disc, and in the 2nd disc the sound is fine for the first 10 minutes, then the sound just cuts out altogether. It never returns for the remainder of the movie. The second 2 disc SVCD set was even worse, with sound cutting out 5 minutes into the 1st disc, and not returning for the whole thing.
Now that I look at the files on the HD, it seems that the .mpa, .mp2, and .mp2.wav files are all the wrong legth in minutes and seconds. Using Virtual Dub I can get the correct length .wav, but then what do I do? I have to use the new .wav with the old .mpv and merge them in TMPG, then split them, then burn them?
Why is DVD2SVCD not extracting the audio from AVI's correctly? Is there any way to automate this so I can take advantage of DVD2SVCD's set-it-and-forget-it functionality? I don't fancy having to merge .wav and .mpv files after I've let it run all night already.
Thanks,
tslug
Edit: I tried DVD2SVCD again, stopping it after the initial audio extraction. This time it got the length of the audio file correct. Strange. We'll see if it keep behaving. I have noticed that if you switch from SVCD to VCD encoding, the BBmpeg settings do not transfer correctly. Double clicking on "VCD" in bbMPEG output settings resets them to default, even though the radio button on "VCD" is already clicked. I think this may have been causing the "error reading input file" message I was seeing on other encodes, but only time will tell.
