Question on downgrading CFW

I noticed that there are so many version for CFW. I also noticed from the forum that there are questions on folks wanting to downgrade their CFW. Why it it necessary to downgrade? and how easy is to go down a firmware? Is it fairly much the same as upgrading a firmware? Thx.

Going down in firmware is relatively simple. As to "why" someone would want to do it? I'm not sure. I'm using 5.00 m33-3 and i'm quite content with it. does everything i need it to do.

only reason i can think of for downgrading is if there's some hombrew that you CAN'T live without that only works on a certain CFW

That's something i've read aswell, that before installing CFW on my psp 3.71 i have to downgrade it first to 1.50. When i asked about it on the forum i was directed to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/708959 (which is brilliant) so i pressume you don't need to downgrade it first anymore before installing cfw. I hope i don't mess it up!

This is correct. Downgrading is not necessary anymore.
