TDK/Toast - Buffer Underrun Error

Hi,
I am receiving an Buffer Underrun Error message when I try to burn DVD-R: "Writing was halted b/c data could not be sent to the recorder fast enough to maintain the current write speed. Please try again with a slower write speed."

I have tried 4x, 2x, 1x write speed - no luck with DVD-. DVD+ worked fine, but cannot play on my mac. Is there an application that will play + format on macs?

Any suggestions for recording to DVD-???

I am using the TDK indiDVD 8x +/- 840G recorder on an ibook, OSX 10.3.2 (updated the iTunes/DiscBurner drive profile from TDK site), Toast Titanium 5.2.

I can successfully burn to DVD+, but not DVD-. I have tried Memorex and TDK discs.
