I will be wanting to transfer all of my dvd's to my computer so I can stream movies to my PS3. And if possible, I'm also looking to keep my movies in VOB format, just in case I ever have to burn a copy again. I dont want to have to re-convert the movie again. I have been using DVD Shrink for a few years now, so I have the most of the basics down. With a few tests, the 3-4 VOB files per movie stream ok in secession, but there is a slight pause between VOB files(nothing too big for me). However, on the movie DieHard 3, the fifth VOB wont play at all. I'm not sure why. It is only about 350 MB, not sure if that's the issue. If I try unchecking the "split VOB files" in DVD Shrink, the movie doesnt stream correctly on the PS3. Only the beginning 20th century fox thing plays and the movie stops playing.

So I'm up for suggestions. Again, in a perfect world, I would love to stream the movies flawlessly to my PS3. But I would also like to keep the highest quality possible, while also possibly keeping the movies ready to burn at any moment. However, my main goal is to be able to smoothly stream my movies. With that being said I would be willing to sacrifice the convenience of quick burning.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. BTW, I'm using Twonky Media as my Server between the Computer and the PS3.

Thanks

Hi,

my friend here at AD likes to rip dvds to the HDD with Anydvd and ripit4me. He says it works quite well.

Thanks for the Ripit4me program idea. I'll check it out. I wrote a lot of information and my primary question might have gotten lost in all the details. Overall, what format would be the best to save my movies in, so I can stream and watch them on the PS3 (and computer too). I understand I can convert to avi format. But, I also want to be able to burn a copy of the movie in VOB format, without having to wait for 45 minutes of converting. Is there another format, or a better program?

So I've tried a couple methods the last few days with Die Hard 3. I can use DVD Shrink on it, and it burns and rips correctly. It also plays fine on the computer. However, when I try to stream the movie to the PS3, the final VOB (which is smaller in size) wont play. I've tried to create one large VOB file, but the PS3 wont play that either. It stops during the opening FOX Studio's screen. I've tried another program FAVC that someone else recommended. The movie plays and streams fine, but there is no audio.

The only thing I thought of with creating one large VOB file is it needs to be less than 4 MB for the PS3. Is this a possibility? Also, If I create one large VOB file, will I be able to burn that on a DVD, so it plays on a regular DVD Player? Thanks in Advance.
