I have flashed Hitachi and Samsung drives fine in the past with my DFI Lanparty board that has a nf4 satachipset. I have the CK3 pro + probe.
I have one question that the guides don't tell you. Do you turn the Liteon drive on before you boot your pc or after you are in windows?
Here is what I have tried. I have installed both PortIO32 and the USB drivers for CK3 pro.
Scenario 1:
Turn on drive (on the CK3 pro) before booting windows. Mode light is blue.
PC recognizes the drive in the bios.
Eject and push in half way.
Run CKtool.
Read the USB port, read the drive port, both work great.
Insert the probe, click to read the key. Key is all CCCCs. Guide says that I need to turn off CK3, unplug sata, plug back in and turn back on.
I do that, then insert the probe and click again. When it starts to read, BSOD.
Scenario 2:
Leave drive off on PC boot up.
In windows turn drive on, eject and push in half way.
In cktool try to read key, BSOD
Obviously unplugging and plugging in the drive in windows is a no go along with reading the key if the drive wasnt plugged in on boot up.
Scenario 3:
Boot up with drive on.
Run JungleFlasher. Select comm port,etc.
Key reads all 0000000s.
Is it possible that you cannot read these keys with a NF4 sata chipset?
Yeah I guess I need to figure out which VIA cards will work. I flashed all my other drives with this NF4 and I see lots of posts where people are using it.
I think the problem I am having is that when I am in windows and I plug the sata cable in and turn the drive on...nothing happens. Shouldn't windows say it found a new drive?
I don't think mine did when I did it. I can't really remember though.
I think i had turned my drive on after windows had started, and it didn't say anything. Then when I used jungleflasher, it was still able to detect it when I selected the correct port.
