Updating NTSC Wii...

Hi,

I have got a chipped wii- i don't know what chip it has in it. It is version 3.1U, but it is not playing some NTSC back up games and on some it asks for a update. Is it alright for me to update it?? If so should i update it via the internet or from a BACKUP NTSC disc (i do not have any original NTSC games).

I just want to play back up games.

Do not update from a game disc if it is a different region to your wii. Pal and NTSC Specific is not enought. There is USA, EUROPE, JAPAN and I think im missing one more.

You can tell which region is currently installed via the letter after the version number eg. Mine is Ver. 3.3E which means Europe (even though I live in, and the wii was bought in Australia)

So make sure you only install from the game disc if its the same as your wii.

As for wether you chip will still work, I dont know. I guess it depends on what kind of chip it is
