Been having a lot of trouble burning dl dvd discs, please help if you can!

Hi there, as the title states, I have been having a lot of trouble with burning DL DVD+R's. Let me explain my objective. I am trying to back up an XBOX360 game that I own. I am using my HP DV6000 notebook with the Pioneer DVR-K17B DVD drive, which is capable of burning DL media. The media I am using is Memorex DL DVD+R's and the software I am using is ImgBurn. Now please don't just say use Verbatims only, because I feel very strongly that the problem is something different, possibly just a simple setting or it could be a hardware problem. Anyhow, now to the actual problem. I load the DVD file in ImgBurn and everytime it fails at approximately 50% give or take. Now I was able to burn one game successfully back about 3 weeks ago, and I'm not sure why it succeeded as I did nothing different. Anyhow, if anyone can offer any assisstance or advice of any kind, please do your best, especially those of you who have run into this particular problem. Thanks in advance to those who can help.

Yes, as I've tried different programs and methods of burning. But for the sake of argument, please enlighten me.
