Hey I have a ps2 with SMS player loaded onto a memor32. I'm also using an external HD. I am able to boot into SMS however when I try to look for my movies on my hard drive I can't see any of them. The movies are all in .AVI format. What are the steps I need to take in order to use an external HD to play movies in SMS? I've seen alot of tutorials for playing games off of an external HD but none for movies.
what version ps2, how is hdd connected to the ps2, is hdd fat32 formated.
if you have a fat ps2 with hdd/network adapter or a slim ps2 you can connect directly to a pc via ethernet cable install ps2client here is sms guide info:
Playing Network Video Files Using PS2Client-gui On the PC download and install ps2client-gui. Run the GUI, and select the directories of where your videofiles are. If you have a base directory that contains all your files, enter that directory. It doesn't matter if your files are in subdirectories within this one, as you will be able to navigate them in SMS. Once you click OK, it will make this available to your PS2.
If you have not done so already, start SMS on your PS2, then On the PS2 press START to bring up the SMS config menu, then select Nework settings..., then select start network interface now and press X.
You should see a new device icon appear at the top of the screen. If you don't see one after 20 secs, try stopping and restarting the ps2client-gui program on your PC. Once the icon appears (can take around 15seconds), press RIGHT to select it, then X. You should now be able to navigate all folders beneath the one you shared.

I have ps2 version SCPH 30001 (fat ps2). I have the HD connected via USB. It is formatted FAT32. When I enter SMS I see the icon up top so its detecting the USB drive but I cant navigate through any of the files on the drive. I don't have a ps2 network adapter.
