TMPGEnc encodes NTSC to size 321 x 240 on Vista

I am encoding from a DVD with TMPGEnc, using the latest version from the author's website (2.525.64 Vista compatible etc); the VOB was frameserved with DGMPGDec1.5; Vista is Business edition.

I select VCD NTSC format (using Project Wizard, and leave other settings as is), which should result in size 352 x 240. However upon viewing it in Windows Media Player, the properties shows Video Size 321 x 240. What's going on? How can i force TMPG to encode to 352x240 ?

PS. I had initially tried with an older version of TMPEnc and that gave same result, so i thought i'd upgrade to latest version Vista Compatible. Still no luck.

Open the mpg with Gspot.
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

My guess is - it really is 352*240, but Vista is altering
the res during playback to represent the (implied) 4/3
resolution.

Thanks davexnet for your prompt response, just as you suspected Gspot reports 352x240.

I did further experiments, copied the encoded mpeg to try with WPM on different machines; results as follows:

WinXP (Media Player 9 series) - 321x240
Win2kPro (Media Player 9 series) - 352x240
Win98SE (Media Player 6.4) - 352x240

When i get some free diskspace, will try encoding the VOB's with TMPGEnc on WinXP, and see what media player says.
