I am trying to disable the "feature" that automatically launches a PS2 CD when the console first turns on. I installed Free McBoot and ulaunchelf on my PS2. I tried using the Free McBoot Configurator to disable this feature.

I changed the "Skip Disc Boot" option to ON.
I changed the "FastBoot" option to OFF.

But it still launches the CD when the console first turns on. Is there something I am missing?

Have you figured this out yet?

Did you make sure to save your settings after you changed them.
Save CNF to mc0

Yeah thanks that helped. But now when I turn on my PS2, it does not load the disc, but it goes to the browser. Even though the "Go To Browser" option is set to "OFF". Is there any way to make it so that when I have a disc in the drive, it will just boot to the PS2 main menu, and not the browser?

If you want to boot to the Sony Main Menu

You have "hacked OSD" set to on
in the OSD Settings menu:

Mine says that it is ON. Are you saying that I should set it to OFF? Here is what my OSD Settings Screen looks like:

Hacked OSDSYS: ON
Configure Item 1: uLaunchELF
Configure Scrolling Options

Video Mode: AUTO
Skip MC update check: ON
Skip HDD update check: ON
Skip Disc Boot: ON
Skip Sony Logo: ON
Go To Browser: OFF

Selected Color: 000 255 000 000
Unselected Color: 051 051 051 128
Menu X: 320
Enter: X: -01 Y: -01
Version: X: -01 Y: -01

Return

Well that is correct the way you have it.

I am not sure why it is not going to the Sony Main Browser then.

If you don't have a disc in , does it go to the Sony Main Browser

Yes. When there is no disc inserted, it goes to the PS2 menu, and not the browser.

That is strange how it will work correctly when no disc is inserted. Any other ideas?

Sorry I don't have any other ideas. You have it configured right as far as I can tell.

You may have to ask the experts over at psx-scene forums
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/

Just post everything you have here, and your PS2 version.

Are you using a Sony 8mb memory card for fmcb. I don't think that would matter anyway for this problem.

Okay I will try that. Thanks for your help!

It is not a Sony memory card. It is a Datel MAX Memory 64MB card.

Did you read through this whole thread, and check that your settings are correct, and you saved your configuration.

What type of memory card are you using?

Configure Item 1: uLaunchELF
Configure Scrolling Options

Oh sorry, I thought you wanted it too boot automatically.

Just turn "FASTBOOT" to "OFF"

Then turn "Skip Disc BOOT" back to "ON"

It should then just load to the Sony Browser OSD

I am not sure the problem then. I just don't put a disc in when I want the Sony Browser.
