Eurovox Max V Clone

Hi, I've work on loads of Eurovox's but I've come a cropper with a Max V that a friend brought to me that is clearly a clone.
It has the April firmware fix in the box and works with manual code entry. But if I try to reflash with new firmware it just freezes, box flashes dnld but the UFL says it's waiting for a reset. Tried all the obvious. I'm definitely communicating with the box as I can transfer my channel file saved from my box.
Just thought I'd ask around in case somebody else has had this problem.

I guess it will have to be a jtagging if all else fails!
