help needed to connect to xbox live need dns server addresses

I am trying to connect to xbox live using a bt voyager 190 modem but when i run the xbox live test it fails at dns server. It says it cannot connect to the dns server and asks me to get the dns server addresses from my isp which is aol/carphone warehouse but when i asked them they told me they cannot give me the dns server address. If anyone knows these dns server addresses could they please tell me, thanks.

I read somewhere online to find out my dns server addresses i had to do a command prompt ipconfig/all which i have done and i got my dns addresses and entered them manually into xbox settings but it still gives me the same failed error when i do the test. I also read i could try using my primary address and enter a default one as secondary 192.168.0.1 which i have also tried with the same result. I have no idea what else to do now so would appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions, thanks.

try resetting ur modem/router.
make sure u have the right dns address because sometimes the command prompt gives u a trick one to screw u up.

I cannot reset my modem for some reason. It won't reset but aol are trying to tell me the bt voyager 190 is not capable of getting a direct online connection to xbox live without using my pc but i don't know if thats true or not. I am not sure how to check i have the correct dns addresses though, i just followed advice given before using a command prompt ipconfig/all.

Hi Laura,
I think there maybe an option to obtain dns Automtically,This is usually required as dns,and local ip adresses can vary so to lock one in doesn't sond Right,
I hope that helps Let me know How you got on..

Thanks for all the help it was the modem that was the problem i bought a sweex router and it works fine now
