Hello,

I've heard from a friend (couldn't find any info on this, sorry if its been answered somewhere) that when you connect to live for the first time it reads your system information. If that system information changes live will notice this and ban you.

I realize that modding and using live is at my own risk and can result in a ban. I am interested in only connecting to live without (I hear this may be safe, yet also may not be) using any backups, so I can download and play games off the harddrive.

Does it matter if I connect to live before or after modding?
Anyways, my 360 is still in the box, is there anything else I should do before modding (aside from checking that it works)?

I would search more for a solid answer on this, as I can't remember exactly, but I believe that I turned mine on first to make sure it worked and updated the system.

You should be fine either way. Again, look for more solid evidence.

I wouldn't think so. I mean you can remove the HDD or recover your profile on another 360.

i doubt it makes any difference either way.
if they could detect any change everyone would be screwed either way because they will know if u have a modded 360 or not.
I think the only info they notice changing is if you bring ur 360 over to someone else's house to use their internet.

just connect to live, they can;t detect the drive they can only tell with the backups you play, the only thing i suggest, if you start playing a game that is a backup, continue playing the backup as, backups and originals do have different timing response. and if you download games prior to release, then be careful there as well, some minor yet important guidelines to follow, i have had my system for 3 years now almost and still no issues and these are the guidelines i follow and what i tell everyone as well.
