Hi
I've been reading alot about doing backups and the use of wiikey vs twilight hack, but i seem to fail at the very beginning with, how do i find out what firmware or chip type i have?
The wii was new at Christmas, from what i have read this will probably have a chip that has been covered over preventing the connection to the pins, does this mean the twilight hack is my only option?

You can find out your firmware level by going to the wii settings. The firmware will be in the top right corner.

If you go here http://www.wiidrives.com/list you can put your wii's serial number in and find out what chip type you have.

And if the chip is covered with resin you can still use a modchip, you just cant use a wiiclip and will have to use wires to solder the chip to the solder points on the main drive board.
