Hey. I'm new here and to this whole thing. I have a sony 5 disc dvd player surround sound system and I want to burn dvds off the net so that they will play on my dvd player. A friend of mine has some that he burned and they will play on his dvd player but not mine. His dvd player has a playback feature and mine doesn't. I'm told that's the difference. Is there any way to burn a downloaded dvd so that it will play on my sony dvd player? I have sony dvds, not sure if they are + or -. I bought those to burn dvds off my dvd camcorder, after downloading them to a computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

Some dvd players will play the xvid/divx AVI files directly as-is.
(perhaps your friends player?).
To get these files to play on DVD players that don't have this
feature, you have to convert them to standard DVD format.

Try something like DVD flick to begin with:

Hey davexnet,

I downloaded dvdflicks and went through the whole process. It took over 2 hours and when it finished it said that it was complete but it never burned my dvd. I clicked on burn dvd when complete and save ISO. So I'm doing it again now with only the burn dvd when complete box checked. Any ideas of what went wrong. I was givin no error messages it just didn't burn onto my dvd. Also I could not find where it said it on my hard drive. All I found was empty folders with no movie in them.

Thanks

DVD flick produces a log somewhere, perhaps in its home folder.
May want to check that.
Many users have Dvdflick produce the files and then use Imgburn to burn
either the ISO, or the Video_ts folder, depending on what DVD flick
was setup to do.

The files may be on your drive somewhere.
Perhaps
c:\documents and settings\your_logon_ID\applicationdata\dvdflick
OR
c:\Documents and Settings\your_logon_ID\Local Settings\Application Data\dvd flick

If you can't find it use the SEARCH facility and look for *.vob and *.iso

Ok I will try that. Right now dvdflick is "Authoring DVD". I redid the whole process. I thought that it would burn it for me automatically. Is this not the case?

Thanks

If you select it in your project.

I seem to remember that DVD flick actually installs Imgburn - so I
assume it uses that.

You are correct in that. I noticed it said imgburn but it wasn't doing anything. So DUMB me clicked on the x and closed the imgburn window. Hince the reason I got no burn. I downloaded imgburn and redid the entire process. Now my burned dvd just popped out. I will try it in my dvd player when I get home. Thanks for the help. I would have never got it done with out it.

Thanks again

OK. Now I have a new problem. I downloaded my first movie from vuze.com. That was no problem. I went back to try to download more but the are SOOOOO slow. Around 5-10kb/sec. I am on a VERY high speed connection, the test I ran said 1560 8015. Any ideas on how to download faster?

Thanks

No idea.

If you're going to be downloading large media, much better to use
Bit Torrent.
