I was just wondering.. if i was to get a divx player.. would that allow me to burn a xvid/avi onto a cd-r and make that disc playable? making the life of converting and encoding not a bother anymore?! XD

thanks for any replies :)

It should work, you just have to make sure that the video is encoded in either ntsc or pal video format
NTSC: United states and other parts of the world
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ntsc
PAL: Australia and other parts of the world
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pal
If you don't use the correct video format( where you live), the screen will be black & white. It also will keep scrolling up, or the player won't play the video at all. if you need to check the video format there are tools that are out there that will tell you what the format is and how many frames per second, and ect. I use Nero to check the video format.

Playstation 2-Free McBoot,HDloader 8.0c,Open PS2 Loader 0.7,80gb Maxtor HDD,SMS Media Player,PGen,SNES Station- Installed
GameCube-SDload,SD Card Adapter,BBA Adapter,2 Color Case,GnuboyGX,MPlayer- Installed

Never had any problem with playing PAL or NTSC XVID/DIVX movies in my stand alone DVD player. I have the Philips 5982 and it plays any XVID I throw at it. I do watch for firmware updates, to keep up on any fixes and new codecs.

Any Philips DVD DIVX players will do. I like the ones that have the USB port on them, so all you have to do is put them on a flash drive from the PC and play them. I'm sure there are many makers of DIVX/XVID players out there, just have had great results from my three Philips.

Good luck.
