Hi all.

1st off, love what you all do, i've been reading this place for a while but never needed to post, unfortunatly the time for me to post has come.

I recently invested in an Xbox 360 and wanted to backup games, after researching everything beforehand, I did it and bought one. I then had it hard modded to play copies. I then bought a SH-D162D drive in order to copy games, I bought the external version as I use a laptop, it claimed to be pre flashed with Kreon.

I open up XBC and lo it says it is Kreon Flashed 1.0 (I'm using v2.8 XBC). Sadly this is as far as I can get as whenever I put in an Original Xbox360 game (for example GTA 4 or Viva Piniata) It's not reading it, at the top it says "Media Type Not Present" I can't seem to get the drive to work at all.

I'm not sure if it's a config issue or what. I'm using Vista on a powerful laptop.

When I plugged in the drive (via USB) it auto installed it for me and says it's ready to use.

Problem is no matter what disk I put in it won't read any of them (I double click the drive with a DVD in and it says to Insert a Disk) Ive tried Original DVD's, Copied DVD's, Xbox360 games and even a blank DVD, nothings working.

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks.

Does the drive work normally in windows? If not then you have got a problem with powering the drive.

is it powered over the usb? is it plugged into a powered usb hub? this could be your problem.

No the drive doesn't seem to be working properly, I can hear it spinning though. It came with it's own power supply it's not powered via usb

If the drive isnt being detected by windows what so ever, then it is either a faulty drive, faulty enclosure, or faulty USB port. Do you know someone with a desktop PC that you can try the drive in (outside the enclosure)? Just need to find out which item has the fault. Once you have it recognised in Windows, you shouldnt have any problems.

I'm starting to think it's a dud drive, I'm going to test it today on a desktop to make sure. It's not the USB connection as I've tried 3 and they all work with other USB devices. Also the Laptop detects the Drive and installs it, it just won't play or recognize anything you put in the drive.

I was hoping i just needed to install something or fix a setting but no ones suggested that.

No mate, once the drive is detected and visible in my computer in windows. it should operate as a normal drive from the begining. Then using the XBC program you'll then be able to read and original 360 DVD
