data dvd won't read in dvd-rom

I hope this is the correct place to pos this, but I've just burned a dvd-r disc with mpgs and it will only read in my dvd-rw/r drive. I used nero 6 to burn it.

OS Win XP Pro SP1
Athlon XP2000
1.6GHz
224MB RAM
30GIG HD + 60GIG HD
