I backup all my DVD's and games using Shrink/Decrypter or DVDFab. All USB connections with my writers (Plextor, LiteOn and Memorex) with internal readers in my laptops.
Now I would like to do the same with my ~1500 Laser Discs. Pioneer CLD3070 are my players. Their outputs are RCA only, one each video and audio. I will need to merge discs as the LD's are multisided and lots are multidisc.
I have laptops only, no desktops.
Anyone know what I need to purchase to accomplish this task? A how to do would also be appreciated.
Thanks
Carl

You need to purchase something that can capture analog video.
How about the Canopus advc110 ?

This box outputs to firewire, so you'll need a firewire port on the PC.

Wow, I am constantly amazed at the knowledge available from the members at AfterDawn!!! You really hit the nail on the head with the ADVC110. This is exactly what I need for this task. My newer laptops have the IEEE.

Could you make a recommendation on the capture software that would be the easiest for my project? I am uncertain that DVDFab will be able to capture the output from the 110.

Thank you very much!

Carl

I am learning more about the avdc110, and am considering expanding my scope to include my Hi8, VHS and other VHS with macro embeded. Should I go ahead and look at the avdc300 with the time control and vid enhancement? Or just stick with the 110?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Carl

I've heard very good things about the advc110. It's good enough for the
average hobbyist. Seems as if you have quite a bit to do - You should
read some reviews and then decide. Neither will circumvent Macrovision
officially, although there seems to be some hacks around.
