Wasn't sure if this belonged here or wherever but i think this fits better here. Ive done quite a bit of browsing and cant seem to find two answers that are complete and the same. So im a little confused.
Ive been trying to Network my Xbox For File Sharing so I can watch videos and listen to music, etc through the tv speakers, and still be able to play games on the pc and not need to minimize or anything troubblesome like that.
In my room i have a 100 mbps connection from the router downstairs which used to be connected directly to my pc. When i hooked up the 360 for Xbox Live I connected the cable from downstairs into an old 10mbps hub i had around, this worked fine for Xbox live and for internet on my computer.
The problem starts now that i have the urge share media, from my pc to my 360 through the network. The 360 will not recognize my computer at all through the hub, and I know that its not certified for xbox live, even though I know certification is just a way to milk money. So I tried connecting the 360 directly to my pc. I have dual 1 Gbps ethernet on my motherboard, so I am able to get internet on both after I bridged the connection, and should get a better quality while watching movies. So for now this is the best solution imho.
However even with the direct connection the 360 does not recognize my computer, nor does the computer recognize the 360. I do see another "somthing" on the network but I believe that it is my dad's computer downstairs connected to the router, because it shows a printer. which the 360 definitely does not have.
note: the 360 doesn't see this computer either
Before i disconnected the hub i also added ports 10280-10284 udp and 10383 tcp to the exceptions list in the windows firewall because the 360 said that they needed to be open. the other two ports that were needed couldn't be added because they were alreaddy open for some other program.
Im not real good with networking but some help on this one would be nice.
