Video Playing Issue, Need Help Please

My gf has some video issues. She has vista. Anyhow, she is unable to play rmvb and avi files for some odd reasons. So far I've made her try it on:

Real Media Player
Media Player Classic
Real Alternative
VLC Player

I've also made her download the K-lite full package

Before she did it though, it kept saying that her avi file was broken, but now it doesn't say anything at all. Now she only gets a black screen.

I thought real media player and real alternative was suppose to be able to play it? I'm confused, I play it easily on my pc so I don't know what's wrong with hers. RealMedia Player is specifically meant to play rmvb files too and it still doesn't work...

Someone help, thank you.
