I've got an xbox coming in the mail in the next few days so I don't know which drive it has. I want to go ahead and pick up a sata card for it anyway if possible. Whats the best card to use from either Fry's electronics or Best Buy, or possibly as last choice, circuit city? They don't appear to list the chipset maker so I'm not sure.
I also have a HP dv6636nr which has the dvd player listed as LightScribeSuper Multi 8X DVD±RW with Double Layer Support. I can't find any information as to know if this allows the bitsetting and if I can use it to burn backups.
Thanks. Can I get a link to the right one please? I don't know anything about sata.
I didn't have to want to wait, and have problems with my credit card. For some reason it works at point of sale terminals, but not over the phone or internet. Bank says that shouldn't happen and can't fix it.
I installed imgburn and got some verbatim disks. Hope my burner does well. The label says 8.5 gig disk but is only showing up as 7.96 gigs, is that normal? I don't want to start burning to run out of room or messed up disk that won't work.
The drive says phillips benq on the top. I bought it used and the guy says it was flashed with ixtreme a year ago. Which version would that likely to be and should it be ok to play offline until I get the new version or are the old logs going to be sent over xbox live regardless and get it banned if its not already? What's the best sata card for this drive or all around card, prefer all around.
breathe... i know your are excited. your burner should be fine, thoses dvd's you got are fine, benq is a fine drive, if flashed correctly it should have ixtreme v1.4 fw on it. and i would not recommend it, but I am still playing with fw v1.4. here is the link you requested...
Thank you. I apologize. I suffer from insomnia among other things so time drags by so slow. I'll order me a card, was looking at VIA VT6421 PCI SATA cards on ebay since I found that listed in a guide.
Cant power it up until after 4 today, got to trade power bricks with the guy I got it from. Got the new brick with the old console. Hoping my second one comes in today with ups.
How do you edit posts so I can stop double posting. I don't see the option anywhere. Thanks

Thanks, I'm blind. Not used to this forum setup. Got two xboxs in. Got one pulled apart. Unfortunately I broke a couple clips holding it together. It's an aftermarket case.
Took the thing apart, got the heatsinks all off and cleaned up. Used silver thermal paste, put on the heat sinks, heated it to the two red lights and left it running for 2 minutes. Turned it off, tightened heat sinks and screwed the board back to the metal part of the case and ran it after it cooled. Played all morning perfectly fine. Turned it off and left for 3-4 hours. Got back and turned it on, played for maybe ten minutes and it froze. Restarted, froze back up before I could start playing. Turned it off let it cool down, tried another game. Still freezing up after several minutes of playing. There are no red lights coming on.
What should I do? Redo the thermal paste and try again? does it need to overheat for longer?
