I am a noob to all this but i have researched it a bit. I am trying to burn .iso's to a veratim -r dl without a .dvd file using imgburn , burning at 2.4x Sais burnd ok but is a coaster.From what i read is that you don't need .dvd file when burning .iso whilst using imgburn. Can any one verify this please? My 360 is modded. Also does it actually matter if i use a dl- instead of dl+? If so does anyone know the reason behind this? All and any help is greatly appreciated.

use DVD+R DL disks...

always load the .DVD file into imgburn, never the ISO

ABGX 360 GUI should be able to generate a proper .DVD file using autofix level 3 on your .ISO

you can make your own .dvd file in notepad.
if you dont use verbatim dvd+r dl dvd's you are wasting your time.

In my tutorial in the Ultimate Sticky it states-

"3. High Quality DVD+R DL discs (Verbatim DVD+R DL that are Made in Singapore are the most recommended. Memorex or other cheapies are not.) You MUST use DVD+R DL, NOT DVD-R DL. "

I'm pretty sure DL DVD-Rs can work if the laser is strong enough. If you don't have the DVD file you must manually set the layer break to 1913760 in ImgBurn or else it will be a coaster. Still made in Singapore Verbatim DL DVD+Rs are what you should use if possible. Reading burnt games already shortens the life of the laser and using inferior media does it just that much quicker.

Out of curiosity, how does it shorten the life of the laser? I've never heard of this with regular cd's or dvd's. Just interested in why.

How do you know if they're made in singapore? I went to best buy today and picked up a pack of verbatims. Does burn speed matter on them?

those are thermal printable ... which i doubt too many people have access to such a labeling device ....

Not sure why they're more expensive. Says 2.4x on them as well, and both say up to 6x. I feel ripped off.

Is there any difference in them?

I see Fuji and Sony got cheaper bundles at Fry's than Best Buy is selling Verbatim for. Are either of those good so I can save a little money? Needing to burn now and not wait for shipping, might just be the price I pay for that.

ok. downloaded abgx 360 v0.94. set it to level 3. opened iso. said it did everything ok. when i run img burn it still winges that i don't have the .dvd file. Can't work out how to set layer break manually in imgburn. does abgx create .dvd file? If so how? alternatives? down side to abgx is that the help file is basically the "about" file. help please?

ok. Please ignore my last comment. I worked it all out. I didn't change the ini file in abgx 360. Have now and burnt a ok on veratim dl+ using imgburn. Thank you to every body that helped including the people who took the time to create the guides! Thanks a Million!
